South America 1996
Information from a tourist trip through seven South American
countries, March 13 - June 25, 1996
In 1996, I and two my friends, Frantisek Jerabek and Zbynek Dubsky, travelled
through South America. I visited Brazil (for 6 days), Paraguay (1 day), Argentina
(5 days), Bolivia (28 days), Peru (32 days), Ecuador including Galapagos (28 days),
and Colombia (5 days). We were interested in all kinds of tourist attractions.
We have made several treks in Andes, climbed volcanos, visited tropical rain forest,
observed animals on islands in the Pacific ocean, visited both modern and
historical cities, archaeological monuments, and met a lot of friendly people.
These pages contain mainly facts for those who plan similar
trip. They partly update and extend the information contained in the
Lonely Planet
guide, which we used thorough our trip. The prices of
hotels ,
transportation ,
organized tours and the
entrance fees
are tabulated and some additional
information is provided.
The transportation table can be also used to learn about our
itinerary. Other, more subjective, information is being supplemented, including
pictures . Send questions and suggestions to
