Abstract. Ceplecha (1987) has published a method of determining luminous meteor trajectories based on the computation of intersections of planes. In this paper another method, called the straight least-squares method, is described and both methods are compared. Numerical examples are presented and the properties of both methods are characterized, without explicitly preferring one to other.
